Back to Achievements Spice Project – Digitalization and Coding of Flight Procedures in Romania As part of the modernization of national aeronautical procedures, CGX AME contributed to the SPICE project in Romania, aiming to digitalize and code flight procedures for ROMATSA, the national air navigation service provider. Context and Challenges ROMATSA must ensure the availability and reliability of flight procedures to guarantee safe and efficient national air traffic operations. The digitalization and standardization of SID, STAR, and Approach procedures — including both conventional navigation and PBN — represent a significant technical challenge. The SPICE project aims to deliver a digital database compliant with international standards, enabling easier management and updating of procedures. Project Objectives Digitalize all national flight procedures (SID, STAR, Approaches) Encode all procedures according to the AIXM 5.1 standard Integrate both conventional navigation and PBN procedures Deliver a database ready for integration into national air traffic management systems Actions Carried out by CGX AME Procedure Analysis Analysis and extraction of existing procedures Digital Coding Coding and digitalization of flight procedures in compliance with AIXM 5.1 Technical Validation Technical validation with ROMATSA Database Delivery Delivery of a finalized and integrable database Integration Support Technical support during the integration phase Technologies and Tools Used AIXM 5.1: aeronautical data exchange standard Data4Flight®: database management and validation system Internal tools for procedure coding and validation Collaboration with ROMATSA’s national systems for integration Voir plus → Results Achieved Complete digitalization of all national flight procedures Improved data quality and reliability Reduced timelines for procedure updates Simplified integration into air navigation management systems
- PAOLA France | CGX AME
Back to Achievements PAOLA – The Aeronautical Protection Zones Assessment Platform PAOLA is an innovative web platform developed to simplify the assessment of protection zones and obstacle limitations related to flight trajectories. Accessible even to non-experts, it facilitates the management of aeronautical easements in compliance with international standards. Context and Challenges Air safety relies on accurate and timely access to aeronautical data . Authorities, aviation professionals, and non-experts such as urban developers or project managers need to quickly understand and analyze protected zones and obstacle limitations to ensure safe operations and informed decision-making. Traditional tools were often complex and time-consuming, limiting accessibility for users outside the aviation domain. In close collaboration with CGX AERO, CGX AME developed PAOLA to address these challenges by making aeronautical data easy to access, process, and understand . The platform simplifies the visualization and evaluation of protection zones, enabling faster, more reliable decisions for all stakeholders, regardless of their expertise in aviation. Project Objectives Digitalize and modernize AIP (Aeronautical Information Publication) data Convert AIXM 4.5 formats to AIXM 5.1, better suited for modern tools Digitalize AIP charts for faster and more reliable usage Ensure compliance with PANS-OPS and ICAO Annex 14 standard Validate data to guarantee integrity and quality Actions Carried out by CGX AME Data Modernization Complete transformation of AIP data from AIXM 4.5 to AIXM 5.1 Chart digitalization Digitalization and updating of AIP charts Platform Integration Integration of data into the PAOLA platform Compliance Verification Rigorous verification according to international standards Collaborative Engineering Close collaboration with CGX AERO teams to ensure technical consistency Technologies and Tools Used AIXM 5.1 : standard for aeronautical data exchange Data4Flight® : database management and validation AIP-GIS Charting® : automated aeronautical charting GéoTITAN® : advanced solution for flight trajectory management and design Internal tools for data quality control and validation Voir plus → Results Achieved A platform accessible to both professionals and non-experts Significant improvement in the speed of protected zone assessments Enhanced regulatory compliance guarantees Up-to-date and reliable data for all stakeholders

- ASECNA En-route Charts | CGX AME
Back to Achievements En-route Charts for ASECNA – Digitalization and Chart Production As part of the modernization of aeronautical services in West Africa, CGX AME contributed to the digitalization and production of En-route charts for ASECNA. These essential charts support safe and efficient navigation in a region with high air traffic activity. Context and Challenges ASECNA (Agency for Aerial Navigation Safety in Africa and Madagascar) brings together several African states and manages air traffic over a vast geographical area. Producing reliable En-route charts that comply with ICAO standards is critical to ensuring the safety and fluidity of both international and regional air operations. In response to increasing traffic and the growing complexity of aeronautical data, ASECNA launched a digitalization initiative to modernize its cartographic tools. Project Objectives Digitalize all aeronautical data required for En-route chart production Integrate these data into a database compliant with the AIXM 5.1 standard Automate chart production using modern tools Ensure ICAO regulatory compliance to support safe and efficient navigation Actions Carried out by CGX AME Data Digitalization Digitalization of En-route data provided by ASECNA Data Structuring Integration and structuring of the data within Data4Flight®, a specialized GIS system Automated Production Automated chart production using AIP-GIS Charting® Technical Collaboration Collaboration with ASECNA’s technical teams for validation and adjustments Regulatory Compliance Strict adherence to ICAO standards and regional specifications Technologies and Tools Used Data4Flight®: GIS management and AIXM 5.1 data structuring AIP-GIS Charting®: Automated ICAO-compliant aeronautical charting Standard GIS tools and internal software for digitalization and validation Voir plus → Results Achieved Production of four ICAO-compliant En-route charts Significant time savings in chart updates and production Improved reliability and overall quality of aeronautical charts Strengthened technical collaboration between CGX AME and ASECNA
